Following her Valentine's Day EP "With Love" [review], Mya released "Sweet XVI", her sixth independently released project through her own label imprint Planet 9 via INgrooves. The six track EP was a celebration of her 16th year in the industry as well as her debut studio album, "Mya". I don't know about you but "Mya" was my introduction to the star quality that is Mya Harrison.

Check out this track-by-track review of "Sweet XVI":

1. "Superwoman"
The perfect reintroduction for Mya. This song is all about empowering women and knowing your self worth and I LOVE it! She better make a track for this generation to listen to and learn some self respect. And when she started rapping? Dawg I remembered why I always loved her. She is so versatile. It's not forced ever.
2. "Cherry Lips"
Tonight I'm on a mission babe/to please ya/And I want you to miss me babe/Like ya need ta This song is so fun and modern with an old school feel. I can hear it being played at a skate party. It's slow and sexy and vibes.
3. "Same Page" (Feat. Eric Bellinger)
This duet is the cutest. How can you not bump this? I'm not typically a proponent for the usage of auto tune but it definitely aids in her modernizing her sound. And the ACCURACY of the lyrics! Well not that I know anything about the chose life because I'm perpetually single...and loving it. #TeamNeverChose
4. "Right Now"
COME THRU MYA! I can honestly listen to this EP straight through. The sound is fresh and the tinkering in the instrumental is EVERYTHINGI real life thought this was Ciara at first though..which goes to show that Mya was the blueprint for Ciara.
5. "M-O-N-E-Y"
It's almost a typical "all about the paper" type of track but Mya puts enough of her own spin and take on it so that it doesn't come off as recycled. Kudos. And the beat is banging! Lest we forget this track boasts about her businesswoman status and savvy as a money maker. Gotta love a boss chick! And the beat is banging! Who run the world?
6. "Unbreakable" (Feat. Mike Check)
Last but certainly not least...the inspirational self track. All about trials, tribulations, and how hard work breeds success. Perfect ending to a flawlessly executed EP.
"Sweet XVI" was just as good, if not better, than "With Love". It's true to the "Mya" sound and yet she manages to churn out songs that are relevant and have a place on today's radio. AMAZING. She has mass appeal, a beautiful voice, and is most definitely what music is missing nowadays. If that was the point that she set out to prove well then message received.

"Sweet XVI" is available online and in stores NOW!
