ICYMI: Nicki Minaj Announces The Pinkprint US Tour

Finally! EMPRESS Minaj has revealed that there will indeed be a US leg of #ThePinkprintTour! Thank God! I was so tired of her evading #TheBarbz and #Kenz with snarky ass tweets. The tears on my TL were real...and I don't even follow her fanbase. At any rate, with the announcement came her special guests which include Meek Mill (I want him to go away and stop fucking with bae but whatevs), Rae Sremmurd (why exactly I don't have a clue...who actually listens to them? Like in real life? TF?), Tinashe (she got smart and jumped off Igloo Australia's sinking ship of a tour that's about to be as down under as her country), and Dej Loaf (Harpo who dis woman?!?). TBH I'll probably go to her show during the BET Experience just because all of these others won't be there. Except Meek's ass. =( Don't let me get backstage passes. I'm gon roll up on him like
At any rate, the US leg of #ThePinkprintTour kicks off on July 17th in Dallas so #Barbz and #Kenz rejoice. Onika shall be coming to a city near you, sooner rather than later. Check out the dates below:

New Music: Maroon 5 Feat. Nicki Minaj - "Sugar (Remix)"

Maroon 5 have tapped Empress Onika for the remix of their hit song, "Sugar", and she brings all of the sweetness necessary to the track. The pairing is a match made in heaven! I love when unlikely artists pair up and the compilation is explosive. Not to mention I love me some Adam Levine. He gives me life.
Listen to the track below:

ICYMI: T.I. Remixes Nicki Minaj's "Truffle Butter"

It's absolutely AMAZING to me that T.I. had thee sheer audacity to remix EMPRESS Onika's "Truffle Butter" from her latest album, "The Pinkprint" [review], when he had the gall to say he signed Igloo Australia because after hearing her he was like "Wow. Females can rap." Like nigga WHET?! I mean, I'm paraphrasing but that was the gist of what he fixed his lips to say. I knew he was a fool from that moment on. I read that bullshit like
At any rate, here he is, remixing Onika's song. I don't know how he even found it because he didn't know women could rap until Igloo brought her ass up here from down under. I'm sleep though. Listen to the track:

Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj Perform At NBA All-Stars

Ariana Grande headlined the NBA All Stars Halftime Show last night and did what we have all come to expect from her live: SHE SLEIGHED! I have yet to be disappointed with a live performance of hers. Vocally, she gives me life. I mean I may not know what she's saying half the time but she sounds PERF. Lol. And then she brought out Onika who is bae AF so who wouldn't love that?
Her set list consisted of a medley of her singles and she seamlessly coasted through them all. If only "Break Your Heart Right Back"was a single because that's my song! Check out her set list and watch the entire performance below:

“Problem”
“Love Me Harder”
“The Way”
“One Last Time”
“Bang Bang” with Nicki Minaj
“Break Free”

BET Experience: Nicki Minaj, Kevin Hart, & More Headline

OK BARBZ! Your leader is EVERYWHERE! Nicki Minaj has been tapped to join the headliners for the "BET Experience" held in Los Angeles from June 25-27, 2015. The three day event will kick off on Thursday with funny man Kevin Hart, followed by the EMPRESS RAP RULER OF ALL THE LIGHT TOUCHES, THEE NICKI MINAJ on Friday, and closes with Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, and an entourage of hype men...just my guess.
Onika will be fresh from the European leg of "The Pinkprint Tour" with special guest Trey Songz. Not to mention that she will also headline "Wireless" whilst across the pond [Wireless 2015]. I'm actually lowkey but actually highkey very excited to see this concert. I just may have to make an appearance for Onika.

Tickets for the "BET Experience" go on sale February 20th.

Wireless 2015: Nicki Minaj Set To Headline

Nicki Minaj is among the hip hop elite tapped to headline this year's Wireless Festival, a 3 day festival taking place July 3-5, 2015 in London. CONGRATS! Drake is also poised to headline and the lineup of performers include Childish Gambino, August Alsina, Joey Bada$$, Wretch 32, Grandmaster Flash, ILoveMakonnen, Logic, G-Eazy, and more. This is icing on the cake because the European leg of "The Pinkprint Tour" is set to begin March 15th with special guest Trey Songz so I guess Nicki isn't as "local" as some hope for her to be. Regardless of the fact she's pretty confident in her Barbz though...
And on an even happier note Jessie J is also gonna perform on the final day of the festival so hopefully we can get some "Bang Bang" action out of these two. I mean, it's not like having Le Empress Onika and Queen Ariana duet but I'll accept Jessie J as tribute.

ICYMI: [Watch]: Nicki Minaj - "My Time AGAIN"

Who wasn't absolutely SMITTEN with Onika Maraj when she released her touching documentary 'My Time Now' four years ago?!? Now she has gifted us with 'My Time AGAIN', the second installment in her "My Time" trilogy. In this installment, Onika shares with us her disappointments and triumphs all on the road to her most emotional album to date, "The Pinkprint". There's behind the scenes footage of rehearsals as well as an exclusive visit to her hometown of Queens with her favorite spots. Gotta love a woman who stays grounded.
She also touches on her emotional and heartfelt breakup with long time beau SB, which was the catalyst for her most gut-wrenching Pinkprint moments. “I was really, really broken writing "The Pinkprint". The brokenness is OK as long as it can inspire people.”
Onika touches on the rap game, and it's lack of substance, as well as the exhilaration of finally releasing "The Pinkprint". We were relieved too! I thought she'd NEVER drop that album.
Join Onika on her emotional rollercoaster below:

First Annual "This Year In Music" Review (2014)

Last year's year end review gave way to surprising results. I thought 2013 wasn't lucrative in sales but 2014 surely takes the cake. It had to be the saving grace of America's Sweetheart Taylor Swift that stopped the RIAA from committing musical suicide. I mean, what's the point of having an association to pass out certifications if no album has been worthy of certifying? Hence the changing of the rules and counting streams and records shipped versus just records sold. Honestly, that is a cop out. Surely, artists should strive to earn their certification off merit and not merely loopholes. Clearly it was deemed possible when SLAYlord Swift accomplished it in just one week. But sure. Go ahead. Celebrate the mediocre...which is what the bulk of the releases this year were at best. Last year, sales aside, it was sooo hard for me to narrow it down to just a top 5 that I had to throw in Honorable Mentions. This year I struggled with even choosing a top 5...the pickings were really that slim.
Without a doubt, topping my list for the second year in a row is Ariana Grande with "My Everything" [review]. The growth that she experienced from "Yours Truly" to this album was astounding. She took risks, flitted in and out of genres, and played with her vocal range a lot more. Some of my fave tracks include "Break Your Heart Right Back", "Hands On Me", "My Everything", "Just A Little Bit Of Your Heart" and "You Don't Know Me" but I listen to the album all the way through every time. Even the INTRO slays! Not only that but she shed her squeaky clean Nick image and proved that she can play in the big leagues...she is nobody's Mariah Carey clone and I LOVE it! Dropping two albums so close together had me a bit skeptical at first but now I can't wait to hear more from her. Hopefully she takes a feather out of Rihanna's cap and drops an album every year. I loved #A1 and #A2 and I am more than ready for #A3. Congrats Arianators! You truly have a star on your hands! I'm expecting her to take home the Grammy for Best Pop Album. For sure.
Look at SLAYlord and The Grim Reaper showing the proper respect as demanded by QUEEN Ari.

It took me a minute to get into Luke James' album but it wasn't for naught and not to say that it isn't absolutely GREAT because it is. It just slipped through the cracks of my overloaded schedule but I am so glad that I finally sought it out and reviewed it [review]. "Luke James" is very nearly a tie with "My Everything". I fell in all types of lust with him after this album. It is flawlessly executed and the vocals on this man...LORDT!  I don't think this album got all of the pomp and circumstance that it deserved and still does. It definitely deserved a Grammy nod but I'll accept the Best R&B Song nomination. Best songs on the album have to be "Options", "Exit Wounds", "Stay With Me", "Glass House", "Trouble", and "I Want You". Not to mention I met him at the Republic Records Day Party and he is super sweet and down to earth. He was all like "Hi I'm Luke."
And I was like
There can be no mention of the greatest albums of 2014 without speaking on the male counterpart to Adele aka Sam Smith. "In The Lonely Hour" [review] came for necks this year. He saw Adele exit and swooped in on the opportunity to snatch her crown...and snatch he did. I love "Stay With Me", "Like I Can", "Life Support", and "Make It To Me". I wasn't surprised in the least to find out he had been signed at the wee age of 14. The talent that Sam Smith possesses is truly beyond his years. He's an old soulful son of a something and I am here for every inch of him...musically.
J Cole is everything. He has moved up from last year's Honorable Mention list to the top 5 and it's well deserved. "2014 Forest Hills Drive" [review] is amazing, thought provoking, and a trail blazing album if ever there was one. I appreciate his fire, depth, and all around honesty. It's refreshing in a day and age where celebrities refuse to take a stance on race relations and social injustices that are occurring right before our very eyes for fear of being ostracised and losing fans. But Jermaine spoke up, spoke out, and slayed every one of those coward bitches on the charts. He's the "RAP GOD". Salute!
Last but certainly not least is Nicki Minaj's "The Pinkprint" [review]. This album swooped in at the last minute to take the final spot in my top 5. I already knew she was a contender, what with amazing singles such as "Pills n' Potions", "Bed of Lies", and "Only" but couple that with features from KING Bey and Queen Ariana this album got catapulted to the top of my list, skipping over all of the honorable mentions. I love how emotional this album is. Onika truly put her blood, sweat, and tears into this project. "The Crying Game", "Feeling Myself", "Get On Your Knees", "I Lied", "Grand Piano", and "All Things Go" have my heart but I listen to this album from beginning to end, no skips. All hail EMPRESS RAP GODDESS OF ALL THE LIGHT TOUCHES! She has the female rap game on lock.
I, of course, have to round out my top albums list with a select few honorable mentions. In no particular order: Taylor Swift's "1989" [review], Jeezy's "Seen It All - The Autobiography" [review],  Teyana Taylor's "VII" [review], Chris Brown's "X" [review], and, UNEQUIVOCALLY, Mariah Carey's "Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse" [review]. I highly doubt I left anything off. This list, in and of itself, was already a stretch. However, everything on this list is definitely worth a listen and if you love them, by all means purchase them! ESPECIALLY my, surprisingly male dominated, top 5!
What were your fave albums of the year that didn't make my list?

Album Review: Nicki Minaj - "The Pinkprint"

The moment we've all been waiting for has finally arrived! EMPRESS Onika Maraj AKA Nicki Minaj has released her latest PINKstallation following her 2012 project "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" entitled "The Pinkprint". This newest edition to the PINK family is without a doubt her REALEST release. It's filled with emotion, passion, and the very essence of Onika. We've waited two years for this milestone in hip hop history and she didn't disappoint.

Check out this track-by-track review of "The Pinkprint":

1. "All Things Go"
Yeah we did it, let's leave this imprint/Just finished writing, this is the Pinkprint Raw, real, and honest. Wow. We just got a glimpse of mixtape Nicki. She's evolved but she still has the same sick flow.
2. "I Lied"
Onika just gon sleigh me with her vocals this whole damn album, huh?!? Like WHAT IS AIR?!? Even though I said I didn't love you I lied I lied/Even though I said I didn't need you I lied I lied/To keep you from breaking my heart, ooh/To keep you from breaking my heart, ooh. This song is the truth. Who can't relate to this? Whether it's a relationship or even a friendship? Got me all like
3. "The Crying Game"
This song is just...perfect...ugh. Onika, Jessie Ware, just ugh. The lyrics, the instrumental, the every damn thing. I can't find a single flaw in this track.
4. "Get On Your Knees" (Feat. Ariana Grande)
I think I was most excited for this song once the tracklist was unveiled. I love me some QUEEN Ari! Any track that has Onika's flow and Ari's flawless vocals I'm here for. IDGAF if they were singing and rapping about sandwiches. I'm in my happy place.
5. "Feeling Myself" (Feat. Beyoncé)
EMPRESS Onika and KING Bey together again?!? YAAASSSSSS! I prepared myself for the "***Flawless (remix)" slayyyage and sure enough Yonce is still prominent in the musical spirit of KING Bey. Onika is always a provider in my melodic vitality.
6. "Only" (Feat. Drake, Lil Wayne, & Chris Brown)
I reviewed this single when it was first released [review] and I have to say that I love the song even more now than I did before. Onika is giving me BARZ for dayssss, Aubrey is begging in true light skinned fashion, and Wayne's verse is so stupid it's hilarious. Chris Brown is the icing on the cake. I loooove this song so much!

7. "Want Some More"
Jeremih is giving me allllll of the 2 Chainz tease right now and I am LIVING! 2 Chainz really brings the ratch out of me. Ain't got nothing for me, these dudes is funny/That's why I'm throwing shade like it's sunny/ Who had Eminem on the first album?/Who had Kanye saying "She a problem"? I'm over here doin the most.
8. "Four Door Aventador"
This cadence is life. Matter of fact it's the afterlife because I'm deceased by the pure genius of the musical combinations. The versatility that is the EMPRESS, though...this shit just vibes.
9. "Favorite" (Feat. Jeremih)
Jeremih better get these damn cameos in! I just want somebody to be my favorite too. Bruh. I ain't ever got a bae. Probably because these lyrics are so me...I don't wanna hype ya/But you a lucky nigga if my mean ass like ya
10. "Buy A Heart" (Feat. Meek Mill)
So this song goes. I'm not gonna lie but I'm not here for Meek Mill. And I'm lowkey offended that he and Nic are supposedly dating so my opinion is completely skewed and biased due to jealousy. I am woman enough to admit that. And get rid of anyone who stands in my way.
11. "Trini Dem Girls" (Feat. Lunchmoney Lewis)
Rich dem girls dem ah pat de pum pum/I'mma whine up dey waist, I'ma pat de pum pum/Trini dem girls dem ah pat de pum pum/Then whine up my waist and pat de pum pum First off, let me say it is EXTREMELY sexy when Onika busts out the Trini accent. I must also say that I cannot dance to save my life and if this were a life or death situation I'd be dead. But that did not stop me from awkwardly whining and thinking I looked like
12. "Anaconda"
I expected "Anaconda" to be playful because the original track was. What was Sir Mix A Lot really saying in that track? A bunch of nothing but we ate that shit up. I take this song completely at face value. Let Onika live DAMN!
13. "The Night Is Still Young"
The night is still young. And so. Are. We. YAAASSSSSSS!
The song is carefree and fun but the message of the lyrics really tell you not to sweat the small shit...life is short. I felt lowkey on my BeyoncĂ© like Stop making a big deal out of the little things/Cause I got big deals and I got little things Onika hit us with the I never worry, life is a journey/I just wanna enjoy the ride/What is the hurry? It's pretty early/It's ok, we'll take our time
14. "Pills and Potions"
Me, personally, the lyrics of "Pills n' Potions" are what clinch it for me. I loved it so much it actually got two reviews out of me! It's relatable on so many levels and honestly we really do overdose emotionally when we get caught up in relationships. So I understood the metaphor. The video I didn't get lol but I guess you had to be high to join her in Wonderland.
15. "Bed of Lies" (Feat. Skylar Grey)
This single was even more passionate than "Pills n' Potions" and that is saying so much. I don't even think my [review] gave the credit that was due. This track has bars, emotion, passion, truth, and a feature that was executed perfectly. Yep that's the word: PERFECTION.
16. "Grand Piano"
*faints* OMG. *dies* ONIKA BITCH YOU BETTER TF SANG! This has truly made my day. Like for real, for real. It's so beautiful. Why would you ever do this to me?!? I'm in love.
17. "Big Daddy" (Feat. Meek Mill)
Look. I'm still not quite here for Meek Mill. Like whyyyyy are you here again?!? He was unnecessary to boot. Especially those ad libs. Onika should've done away with this feature because she kills her spot. And I know Meek was over there like

18. "Shanghai"
Sooo this is like the 15th track where Onika has referenced Jay and Bey. Ask Jay who he married, 80 thousand in Paris/Stadiums with Queen B and that selfie, got them aggy I'm starting to think she has a girl crush going with Bey...which I'm totally ok with. I mean I'm over here like
At any rate, I love the song. So keep being ghey Onika.
19. "Win Again"
I looooove this song! Like it's everything. She truly has won, again. Not that I don't got good vision/But I don't see competition/They want me to come and help them/But I am not a magician.
20. "Mona Lisa"
If you look at my/If you look at my love/I ain't worried about a he/And he ain't worried about me
Where the independent women at? And the symbolism with this song title though! The Mona Lisa is known as  "the best known, the most visited, the most written about, the most sung about, the most parodied work of art in the world". And Onika is the best.
21. "Put You In A Room"
I think the gates of Heaven open every time Onika sings. Surely, I hear harps and the harmony of angels from above. Naw lol but for real this song is a different sound for her. Beautiful, to be honest.

22. "Truffle Butter" (Feat. Drake and Lil Wayne)
I'm still the highest selling female rapper for the record. Bitch you better SLEIGH. Wayne should've gone first a la 'Kings of Comedy', then Aubrey, and let Onika spit her hot fire at the end. Your whole style and approach, I invented/And I ain't takin that back, cause I meant it.
"The Pinkprint" gave me everything and more. I didn't know what to expect from her single releases but who knew that it could only get better? This album is her musical diary unfolding before us, track after track. She gave us range, bars, vocals, and without a doubt the total package. Onika is truly at the top of the rap game right now and whoever believes otherwise is delusional.

"The Pinkprint" is online and in stores NOW!
