Estelle made her debut into the music industry in 2008 with her smash hit "American Boy". Although her fourth studio effort, "True Romance", lacks a killer Kanye collaboration like that one, she doesn't even need it. Unlike her last project, 2012's "All Of Me", this album has more of an overall Pop and House sound which is readily heard out the gate with opening track "Time After Time", as well as tracks like "Something/Good Devotion", "Conqueror", and "Not Sure". But have no fear! There are tracks that give us much needed soul such as "Silly Girls", the reggae-roused "She Will Love, and sure to be a fan favorite, "Gotcha Love".
Mapping out the various stages of a relationship the album consists of four major themes: courage, passion, true romance, and (of course) the inevitable bullshit that comes along with love. The concept is loose but creates a framework for a compilation of songs detailing the experience of being knocked down by love but being able to pick yourself up in the aftermath. It's emotional, it's real, and extremely relatable. Estelle certainly delivers and "All That Matters" is the perfect fairy tale ending.
