If you watched Idol the season that Candice Glover won then you already knew she can sing her whole entire face off. However, the sad truth is that there are so many artists struggling to make the transition from "super talented singer" to "successful music artist". After giving "Music Speaks", the debut effort from Candicea listen it's clear to me that she is hellbent on being one of the chosen few that successfully make that difficult transition.
You've truly made it the day that MOTHA MARIAH releases a hailstorm of glitter upon your head. Candice can die knowing that she's lived a full life and completely life that was garnished by royalty. As far as the album is concerned? The lyrics, the production quality, her voice, I repeat HER VOICE, saddled with her flawless execution is enough to serve life to both pop and R&B fans. The project integrates a blend of her natural soul/R&B with snippets of modern pop and a dash of reggae to create a musical experience that has you anticipating the end of one track just so you can see how the next one could possibly top it. A nearly impossible feat that Candice both attempted and conquered.
I would've have never guessed that this was a debut album. This is undoubtedly the most self-assured AI album ever. It reeks of confidence and it's what I admire about Candice. She knows what she wants to tell us and sings her truth. She can give runs like no other, try though they might, and although she may utilize them in abundance, they never fall on deaf ears. I welcome her runs as assuredly as Heaven opened it's pearly gates and allowed KING BEY to freely walk among us humans. They're a sound that brings immense pleasure to one's ears. They're interchangeably playful, expressive, and genius. I could listen to her all day.
